Navigating the Dashboard
Once you log in, the Dashboard is your home base. It gives you a real-time overview of your accounts payable activity and quick access to every feature in the platform.
Sidebar Navigation
The sidebar on the left is your main navigation menu. It gives you access to every section of Mod AI:
| Section | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Your home screen with KPI cards, charts, and AI-generated insights |
| Invoices | View, upload, review, and manage all invoices |
| Purchase Orders | Browse and search purchase orders synced from your ERP |
| Receipts | View goods receipts used for 3-way matching |
| Vendors | Manage your vendor list and vendor details |
| Approvals | Review invoices pending your approval and manage approval policies |
| Rules | Create and manage automation rules for invoice processing |
| Employees | View and manage employee records and groups |
| Settings | Configure your organization, entities, users, integrations, and more |
Some sidebar items may show a lock icon. This means the feature is restricted based on your user role. If you need access to a locked feature, contact your admin.
Top Bar
The top bar runs across the top of every page and contains three key elements:
Company Switcher
If your organization manages multiple entities (companies), the company switcher appears in the top bar. Click it to switch between entities. When you switch, all data on the page updates to reflect the selected entity.
The company switcher only appears if you have access to more than one entity. If you only see one company, that is expected.
User Menu
Click your profile icon or name in the top-right corner to access:
- Your profile settings
- Log out
Notifications
The notification icon in the top bar alerts you to items that need your attention, such as invoices pending approval or processing issues.
Dashboard KPI Cards
The main Dashboard screen displays key performance indicators (KPIs) at a glance:
| KPI Card | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Invoices Processed | Total number of invoices processed in the selected time range |
| Amount Invoiced | Total dollar amount across all processed invoices |
| Pending Approvals | Number of invoices currently waiting for approval |
| Processing Success Rate | Percentage of invoices that processed without errors or manual intervention |
These cards update in real time as invoices are processed, approved, and synced.
Date Range Filters
Above the dashboard metrics, you can filter data by time period. Click the date range selector to choose from:
- Today
- Last 7 Days
- Last 30 Days
- This Month
- Last Month
- This Quarter
- This Year
- Custom Range -- Pick a specific start and end date
All KPI cards, charts, and insights on the dashboard reflect the selected date range.
Entity Selector for Reporting
If your organization has multiple entities, the dashboard includes an entity selector that lets you view metrics for a single entity or across all entities combined. This is useful for finance managers and controllers who oversee AP across multiple business units.
AI-Generated Insights
Below the KPI cards, the Dashboard includes an AI-generated insights section. This provides plain-language summaries of your AP activity, including:
- Trends in invoice volume and spend
- Unusual activity or anomalies
- Processing bottleneck highlights
- Approval turnaround observations
These insights are generated automatically based on your data and update as new invoices are processed.
Sidebar Lock Icons
As mentioned above, some items in the sidebar may display a lock icon. This indicates that your current user role does not have permission to access that feature.
For example, a Clerk role will see a lock icon on the Settings and Rules sections, since those require Manager or Admin access. If you believe you need access to a locked feature, contact your entity admin.
